Lake 69 (4604 m.s.n.m.) is located in the Cordillera Blanca and its name indicates in betwen its registration 830 lakes inventoried in the Huascaran National Park in 2014, which is considered a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and a World Natural Heritage Site.
Is one of Peru’s most famous and magnificent treks, a challenging one-day trek at high altitude. Travelers from around the world come to Huaraz for adventure tourism.
During the hike to the lake you can see mountains such as: Huascaran south and north, mountain Pisco, mountain Chopicalqui and the amazing Chacraraju.
Itinerary
Our bus picks you up from your hotel in Huaraz in the early morning 5:00 a.m. and transfers by the callejon the huaylas passing Carhuas and Yungay city then keep driving up hill till the huashao for breakfast then 20 more minutes you get to the National Park Huascaran Office to pay and register. After 03 Hours driving from Huaraz you get to Cebollapampa (3900m). where the hike starts 5-6 hours. Hiking round trip. Its easy moderate Hike the first Hour flat then uphill by zic zac for 45 minutes where you will get a great view to the mountains and the Valley llanganuco, the last piece it’s a bit hard 20 to 25 minutes. Then you can enjoy as much you want at the lake
before starting descending by the same trail. It’s a full day trip you will be back to Huaraz around 6:00 pm.
